Playful, hands-on learning for students — and the important adults in their lives!

Chicago Children’s Museum offers several ways for students, and the important adults in their lives, to experience hands-on, playful learning.  All exhibits and education programs are aligned with Illinois State Learning Standards and are an ideal way to bring classroom curriculum to life.

Be Your Own Guide
A Self-Guided Visit offers your group a chance to explore the entire museum at their own pace. Children can make meaningful connections and discoveries in any of our 15 exhibits and programming spaces. Our exhibits include: BIG Backyard, Inventing Lab, Skyline, WaterWays, Dinosaur Expedition, Kids Town, My Museum, The Allstate Foundation Presents: Play It Safe, Treehouse Trails, Kovler Family Climbing Schooner.

Dig Deeper
A Facilitated Workshop at CCM allows your group to experience an in-depth guided visit to one specific exhibit in conjunction with a hands-on workshop led by a museum educator.  It’s a perfect way to kick off or culminate a themed unit in your classroom!  Workshops include: BIG Backyard, Inventing Lab!, Skyline, WaterWays, Art About Me, The Skin You Live In, Dinosaur Expedition, Treehouse Trails, Secrets of Painting, and Arts in Action.

Let Us Come to You
CCM to Go lets you bring the excitement of a field trip right to your site!  This hour-long program travels to your location and is facilitated by one of our dynamic museum educators.   There are a number of themed workshops available including Coaster Challenge, Dinosaur Detectives, Fair Play, The Skin You Live In, smART spaces, and Make a Mural.

Playing and Learning is For Grown-Ups, Too!

Professional Development Programs provide valuable opportunities for adults to gain practical tools to apply in their work with children.  These workshops can be tailored to your group’s needs, and can take place at CCM or at your site.  We also offer a number of annual open-registration workshops as well as educator preview nights for specific exhibits and workshops.
