Thomas Masters Gallery
The Thomas Masters Gallery opened in 1993 in the historic Old Town in Chicago. The owner, Thomas Masters, has been in the Art business since 1985. A singer/songwriter and painter, Masters moved to New York City in the mid-1970s. He produced recordings, toured the U.S., and backed up such acts as the Ramones, the Stranglers, the B52's, Iggy Pop, and Robert Fripp. In 1985, he returned to Chicago to pursue art full-time. His intimacy with music and painting makes him a very unique Art dealer. This is reflected in the selection of artists who he represents. The success of the gallery has been enhanced by the partnership with his wife, art historian Agnieszka Masters. The gallery features over thirty artists and presents 10 major exhibitions annually. In addition, as one of Alinea Restaurant’s collaborators, Thomas Masters Gallery provides the art that adorns the walls at Alinea and has hosted events in conjunction with Grant Achatz and Alinea at the Gallery.
