The Power of Documentation
Now You're Talking!
The Power of Documentation: Children's Learning Revealed
The Power of Documentation: Children's Learning Revealed is a
dynamic, thought-provoking window into the lives of children
and teachers in early education environments.
Through photos, childrenís work, anecdotal notes, and stories, the viewer
experiences young children learning and making sense of their
world. Reflections by teachers and administrators (in writing
and on video) reveal the role
of documentation and collegial support in creating learning communities
for children, parents and teachers.
The exhibit provides viewers with the opportunities to:
Focus on learner outcomes by seeing how active, engaged learning experiences
enable children to meet standards.
Value diversity by seeing how documentation and other best practices can be used
effectively with all young children in real-life settings.
Reflect on and discuss what they see with other learners and educators.
Begin documenting in their own centers and schools.

Now You're Talking!
When it comes to learning language, children are brilliant! We are all
born with an incredible ability to learn language. But to make the most
of it, we need a language-rich social environment.
Now You’re
Talking! highlights some of the remarkable language-learning feats
of young children, while reinforcing the all-important child-caregiver
relationship. Caregivers,
childcare providers, and educators will feel amazed and empowered
to make the most of children’s aptitude for language learning.
Your visitors will:
• Appreciate the amazing ability of babies and young children to learn
language.
• Understand the critical relationship between children’s intrinsic ability
to learn language and caregivers’ use of language.
• Recognize the connection between language learning and literacy.
This highly interactive exhibit invites families to share in a series of activities
that tell the story of how language is acquired, with special emphasis on the
enabling role of caregivers. Families can document and practice their children’s
language learning and will receive information on enhancing the connection between
language development and literacy.
