Full-Time Positions
Corporate Relations Director
The Corporate Relations Director is responsible for managing, implementing, and growing the corporate donor base and assisting the Vice President, Corporate Relations in the attainment of all corporate revenue goals.
Responsibilities
Manage and grow portfolio of corporate donors for program, general operating and exhibit needs (65%)
- Work with Vice President, Corporate Relations, development department and Museum board to identify, cultivate, solicit, steward, and grow corporate donors
- Manage a portfolio of corporate donors through all aspects of the fundraising process, including recognition, benefits fulfillment, and reporting requirements
- Oversee research, identification, cultivation and tracking of prospective corporate donors
- Write proposals, reports, donor profiles and meeting briefs in close collaboration with exhibit and program teams
- Design and manage corporate stewardship events, including annual luncheon and semi-annual employee days
Grow and manage the Corporate Connections membership program, including (15%)
- Manage overall program and benefits, including promotion and engagement
- Manage renewals and solicitations, including board referrals
- Manage stewardship and communications with Corporate Connections members
Management/Administrative (20%)
- Contribute to annual planning and goal-setting
- Assist Vice President, Corporate Relations in management of corporate pipeline, prospect strategy, and revenue/expense projections
- Assist in the coordination of board solicitations, including for annual gala and other fundraising events.
- With Volunteer and Intern Coordinator, manage the Corporate Volunteer Program.
- Contribute to the improvement of department systems, including Raiser's Edge reports, corporate mailing lists, and data
- As appropriate, participate in institution-wide discussions and program teams; assist in implementing CCM’s position papers
- Demonstrate the museum’s mission and vision as outlined in our foundational documents and performs other duties as assigned

Fundraising Events Coordinator
The Events Coordinator is responsible for management and growth of fund raising and cultivation events. This person is responsible for the attainment of annual event-related revenue goals. The Events Coordinator manages all event-related logistics, vendors, clients, consultants, and volunteers. In addition, s/he will coordinate event logistics and staffing. The Event Coordinator reports to the Director of Individual Giving.
Responsibilities
- Produce and manage the museum’s significant fundraising and cultivation events, including the annual Gala, the Hide N Seek young professional event, the Family Snow Ball family benefit, events for employees of corporate members, and other development cultivation and fundraising events (55%)
- Coordinate all fundraising initiatives for events, including underwriting, sponsorship, table and/or ticket sales, raffle and auction income, contributions (monetary and in-kind) and other income (35%)
- Manage other donor-related events including exhibit openings, corporate recognition events and other events as needed. (10%)
- Supervise events intern(s) and event volunteers
- As appropriate, participate in institution-wide discussions and assist in implementing CCM’s position papers

Vice President of Marketing
The VP of Marketing is responsible for driving earned admissions and membership revenue, as well as building the brand of Chicago Children’s Museum. The VP Marketing defines strategies and leads the team in generating earned revenue growth by expanding the visitor and member base, building a strong organizational brand, translating that brand into the marketplace, and ensuring a high-level of service to museum visitors – all based on an insightful understanding of the museum’s visitors and their needs. The VP hires and develops superior, consumer-driven marketing, public/media relations, and guest services staff.
Supervises: Direct reports include CCM’s Art Director, Director of Public Relations, Manager of Guest Services, and Director of Membership & Audience Development. Three of these reports are managers with staff, including a full-time design team, part-time and seasonal guest services team and full-time membership team.
Responsibilities
Earned Revenue Generation
- Develops and implements strategies, tactics and programs to drive increased paid attendance and maximize paid vs. free attendance.
- Develops and implements programs and strategies to increase paid membership base, working with Director of Membership to enable increasing successful conversion of visitors to members.
- Oversees admissions and membership pricing for the museum. Assesses, recommends and implements new pricing models/strategies for admissions ticketing and membership. Develop and implements initiatives to maximize sales.
- Ensure policies, programs, procedures and staffing are in place to enable maximized onsite and online sales while delivering top level customer service.
- Develops and implements the annual museum marketing and budget to support museum’s strategic objectives. Regularly monitors sales and reports. Oversees all activities relating to the annual Marketing Department budget.
Building the CCM Brand
- Builds the CCM brand through consistently implemented strategies and branding initiatives.
- Provides leadership in the visual translation and development of the CCM identity and brand. Ensures that a high-quality and consistent branded message is delivered through all marketing vehicles, including print and online advertising, website, social media, PR, signage and print materials.
- Creates and oversees marketing strategies and tactics to raise awareness and build reputation, while also driving attendance and growing earned revenue.
- Defines and directs comprehensive communication plan for museum audiences, including public relations, print materials and web. Collaborates with and advises department leaders on their promotional and communication strategies and ensures consistency with museum’s strategic direction.
- Oversees and directs market research, competitor analyses and customer service and retention monitoring processes, initiatives and best practices. Articulates implications for CCM and shares with the management team and relevant departments.
- Identifies, negotiates and implements media sponsorships and partnerships. Works with Development Department on pursuing/implementing marketing-oriented sponsorship partnerships and determining promotional benefits.
- Acts as Staff Liaison with the Marketing Committee of the Board of Directors. Serves as a marketing resource to the Board as needed.
Museum Management
- Leads a high-performing marketing team, motivates and supports staff daily, serving as an advocate for marketing strategies throughout the museum.
- Recruits, hires, and trains superior marketing, public/media relations, and guest services staff to ensure consumer-driven marketing and superior customer services. Evaluates staff performance on a regular basis
- Works collaboratively with and as a member of the CCM Management Committee to continuously renew and improve CCM’s offerings to improve visitor satisfaction, expand the visitor base and generate revenue growth.
- Plays a leading role in the development of CCM’s strategic planning– especially in regard to external dimensions including visitors, competitors, attendance, and revenue goals.
- Carries out other duties as assigned by the President and Chief Executive Officer.
Qualifications:
Education:
Candidates must have an earned baccalaureate degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or related field. MBA a plus.
Job Experience:
A minimum of ten years combined experience in marketing with expertise in advertising, PR, online communications, design management, market research and strategic marketing planning. Must have a demonstrated ability to translate marketing tactics into earned revenue.
Special Knowledge & Skills:
- Commitment to mission, vision, and values of Chicago Children's Museum.
- Deep understanding of advertising, marketing, visual design, online strategies, social media, sales and customer service strategies.
- Previous experience with P&L responsibility. Previous high level budgetary responsibility/accountability.
