Professional Development FAQ

Are CCM's Adult Programs offered in a series or just as single workshops?

Both! We've fine-tuned all our workshops to provide a rich, meaningful experience for each participant. However, to achieve the most comprehensive experience for your group, Chicago Children's Museum encourages registering for a series of workshops to allow for ongoing dialogue and reflection.

Are Adult Programs designed to work with the Student Visit options?

All of Chicago Children's Museum's educational programs take a holistic approach and are designed to impact the educator, the children, the family, and the community. Many of our custom designed experiences are made up of multiple components to provide opportunities for all of these important people to learn and play. Contact us for more information or call (312) 464-7743.

Are Adult Programs offered in Spanish?

Yes! A number of our educator programs are offered in Spanish. Registration for Spanish-language workshops may require greater lead time when booking. Give us a call and we'll find a date that works for everyone.

How far in advance should I register my group?

Pre-registration is required for all visits, and you must register at least 30 days in advance to guarantee confirmation.

What is your refund policy?

Refunds are given to groups that cancel more than 14 days prior to the scheduled visit.

Can I register by phone?

Yes, that is our preferred method for scheduling Adult Programs. Call (312) 464-7743, and a Chicago Children's Museum representative will help you book your group. You will need to hold your reservation with a credit card. Pre-registration is required for all visits.

Will you charge my credit card if I hold my reservation with a credit card?

All reservations must be paid in full on or before the day of your visit. If payment is not received, your credit card will be charged.

How will I know that my group is confirmed?

You will receive a confirmation letter prior to your visit.

What are the minimum and maximum numbers of participants allowed in each workshop?

The minimum number of participants per workshop is 10 and the preferred maximum is 25. We will do our best to accommodate larger groups upon special request. Groups of 10 or fewer may register for a program but will be charged for the minimum of 10 participants.

How far will Chicago Children's Museum travel to deliver an adult workshop?

We'll travel to wherever you are! Our standard $50 travel fee applies within a 25-mile radius of our home at Navy Pier. Beyond that radius, our fee will increase appropriately.

Can Chicago Children's Museum custom-design a program to accommodate the specific needs of my group?

Absolutely! This is our favorite thing to do. We welcome the opportunity to collaborate with educators to better meet their needs. Please give us a call at (312) 464-7743 to discuss possibilities.
