Chicago Children's Museum appreciates that a child's first five years is a period of extraordinary development. After nearly 30 years of helping children grow, explore, and learn, CCM is an expert in creating experiences that are developmentally "just right" for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. In addition, CCM provides adults with access to a supportive community and high-quality resources related to play, child-development, parenting, and teaching.
Each exhibit at CCM has something to offer the youngest visitors; several exhibits include special infant and crawler play areas. Treehouse Trails, Kids Town, and BIG Backyard are especially popular with young visitors. Pritzker Playspace is a special environment designed exclusively for families with young children and has limited hours each day. It’s the perfect, playful place to bond with your child, connect with other families, access resources, and interact with friendly, knowledgeable, professional educators. For information on exhibits designed with Early Learners in mind, see our Babies & Toddlers visiting tips.
Museum programs provide additional experiences for CCM's youngest visitors, including opportunities to explore music, art, movement, and materials. See the calendar for programs such as Kids Create that are tailored to babies, toddlers, and preschoolers.
CCM's environment is built to suit the needs of young children and their parents and caregivers. Amenities include nursing chairs throughout the museum, a nursing room, plentiful changing tables, including private family bathrooms, a bottle warmer (in the Pritzker Playspace), and other amenities that make the museum visit easy and enjoyable.
