Chicago Children's Museum understands that a child's first five years is a period of extraordinary development. After nearly 30 years of helping children grow, explore, and learn, CCM is an expert in creating experiences that are developmentally "just right" for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. In addition, CCM provides adults with access to a supportive community and high-quality resources related to play, child-development, parenting, and teaching.
Permanent Exhibits
All of CCM's exhibits have something to offer the museum's youngest visitors, including seven infant and crawler play areas throughout the museum. Two exhibits, Treehouse Trails and Kids Town, are specifically tailored to meet the needs of babies and children through age five, while engaging them in meaningful play experiences.
Open Playgroup
Pritzker Playspace is exclusively designed for families with babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. It’s the perfect place to connect with other families, bond with your child, and access valuable resources. Playspace educators are always on hand to provide your family a safe, supportive, and playful environment.
Museum-Wide Programs
Programs throughout the museum provide additional experiences for CCM's youngest visitors, including opportunities to explore music, art, movement, and materials. See the Calendar for programs such as Kids Create that are tailored to babies, toddlers, and preschoolers.
Amenities
The museum environment is built to suit the needs of young children and their parents and caregivers. Amenities include nursing chairs throughout the museum, a nursing room, plentiful changing tables, including private family bathrooms, a bottle warmer (in the Pritzker Playspace), and other amenities that make the museum visit easy and enjoyable.
