Free & Discounted Visits

Among Chicago Children’s Museum’s core beliefs is that play is the right of every child, regardless of ability, background or income. The following free programs and discounts ensure children, families, educators and community servants from Chicago and the nation have a safe, welcoming place to play and learn when they enter Chicago Children’s Museum.

Free Days and Times

Groups of 18 or more must register for Target Free Family Night or Free First Sundays by calling (312) 464-8249.

Military, Police, Firefighters and Teachers

Veterans & Active Military
For their service to our country, veterans and active military receive free admission every day.  Please present a valid form of military status identification at the admissions desk to receive free admission.

Teachers, Firefighters, & Police Officers
To honor the contributions teachers, police officers and firefighters make to the community every day, Chicago Children's Museum offers a discounted admission price of $5.00  to teachers, firefighters and police officers with a valid form of employment identification.

Museum for All Discounted Admission

As a Museums for All partner, we offer any Illinois family that qualifies for state food assistance and is in possession of an EBT card, admission to the museum for up to 6 people for $3.  To qualify for the Museum for All rate, the group must include at least one adult and one child 15 years old or younger. Simply present your EBT card (known in Illinois as a Link card) to Chicago Children's Museum—and enjoy your visit! Click here to learn more.

Educator and Student Researcher Tours

Chicago Children’s Museum welcomes educators, museum profressionals, and student visitors to explore the museum and learn about play-based learning in action. Our doors are open and admission is waived seven days a week from 1 p.m. to close for self-guided exploration and observation for adult visitors not accompanied by a child visitor.

Please check-in at the membership desk after 1:00 pm, present your educator/student identification and enjoy the museum!

Educators or high school and university student groups of more than 10 people should pre-register as a group visit, by calling (312) 464-8249.

Extensive observations of Art Abounds Studio, Tinkering Lab or other museum exhibits for more than one day in the same month, please request your specific observation needs here.

Target Free Family Night and Subsidized Transportation

Are you bringing a group of 35 people or more to Target Free Family Night? The museum offers subsidized transportation for qualifying community and educational organizations serving low-income families each week on Target Free Family Night.  Bus grants are available for qualifying schools and organizations. Student Field Visits

Chicago Children's Museum offers a variety of ways for students, and the important adults in their lives, to experience hands-on, playful learning. All exhibits and education programs are aligned with Illinois State Learning Standards and are an ideal way to bring classroom curriculum to life. Check out more information on field trips. Discounted Field Trips
Chicago Children’s Museum offers discounted field trips to 501(c) 3 organizations serving low-income families  and schools with 80% or more of their students approved for free and reduced priced meals (as cited by the Illinois Department of Education). Play For All Events

Held the second Saturday of every month, Play For All events invite children and families with disabilities to experience Chicago Children's Museum's inclusive, multisensory exhibits and programs. The museum opens one hour early, at 9am, for pre-registered guests. The first 100 visitors to register receive free admission. Group opportunities are available. Parker Program

Throughout the school year, Chicago Children's Museum welcomes students with disabilities to explore the museum's interactive exhibits with specially-trained students from Francis W. Parker School as their guides. The program provides free transportation and museum admission to participating classrooms. For more information, contact us.

Community Family Membership Program

Chicago-based 501(c)3 not-for-profit community organizations primarily serving low-income families may be eligible to partner with Chicago Children’s Museum to provide discounted annual memberships to their families.
