The Allstate Foundation presents Play It Safe
Developed with the Chicago Fire Department, Play It Safe is a dynamic, interactive environment that teaches children and families effective home safety strategies. Designed to suggest a realistic house and backyard, this exhibit is packed with activities that explore ways of preventing—and responding to—common emergencies and potential hazards. Play Now You’re Cooking!, an over-the-top stovetop game show hosted by a friendly, informative oven mitt; learn the ten steps to fire safety, and create your own fire escape plan; keep safe on the streets with the advice of Captain Street Smart; take the Safety Patrol Pledge; and more.

Artabounds Gallery
Witness wondrous works of art by children and families from Chicago–and beyond! The Artabounds Gallery is a showcase for collaborative family art created in CCM's own art studio and offers an intimate walk-through space that delights and inspires an early appreciation for art.

Now open, Between Us: Making Art Together showcases the spirit of collaboration in an exhibit built entirely by the children and families in CCM's sculpture workshops. Under the guidance of professional artists, such as ceramist Tom Lauerman, sculptor Renee Williams Jefferson, and printmaker Jon Stein, visitors fabricated nine-foot-high mixed-media panels, a giant mobile, clay “face” tiles, silk-screened windows, and more for this one-of-a-kind exhibition.

BIG Backyard
Art meets technology in BIG Backyard, a wondrous urban garden, filled with enormous insects, giggling flowers, giant toadstools and other fantasy creations that stir the senses and make imaginations bloom. Through innovative technology, you can immerse yourself in the action and discover what it's like to be part of the city's landscape.
