The Built Environment: Hands-On Education Activities

AboutSessionsResources

Welcome to the Web site for The Built Environment, a hands-on educational program that explores engineering concepts through the lens of architecture. The program is designed for students grades 1-5 along with their parents, siblings, or caregivers. This curriculum can be implemented by community recreation leaders, teachers, museum educators, after-school facilitators -- anyone who works with children and families.

On this site, you can download activity plans that encourage students to think like builders, designers, architects, and engineers. All activities require a high amount of collaboration -- listening, following and leading, sharing ideas, giving credit, teamwork, and good communication.

Let’s get building!
