Timeout for Parents

Welcome to the newest edition of your weekly Timeout, featuring the best in self-improvement and escapism from across the internet.

This week’s Timeout is about a powerful timeout tool in and of itself: mindfulness.

Fully embrace the now and enjoy a much-needed Timeout! We know what you’re thinking. A mindful timeout? How does that even work? All that time at the top of Cloud Buster finally got to them.

At least hear us out before we get the Homer Simpson treatment:

Quick question. How mindful are you?

Being mindful means recognizing and accepting the current situation without judgment. Not just going through the motions, but truly weighing it all: What is happening? Why is it happening? How does it make me feel?

Whew! So many EMOTIONS…

How about a timeout from this Timeout with a little meditation? (So, like, totally meta y’all...)

Staying mindful can feel impossible in a 24/7/365, socially-connected kind of world. To that, we say “nothing ventured, nothing gained!”

Studies show that, from stress reduction to physical fitness, the benefits of practicing mindfulness are unquestionable.

Additionally, daily practices that are focused on mindful parenting help to greatly reduce parental anxiety and stress levels

So, do everyone in your life a favor and live in the now, man!
